Day 6 – Friday, December 21 – Jaipur – Varanasi

Early this morning, we fly to the Holy City of Varanasi.  After an early breakfast, transfer to Jaipur airport for our flight to Varanasi.

Also called Benares or Kashi, Varanasi is the oldest living city in India, and one of the world’s most ancient, a contemporary of Babylon, Nineveh and Thebes. Hindu devotional movements flourished here, and it is still the center of Sanskrit learning in North India. The city is also famous for silk weaving.

Upon arrival, enjoy a city tour before arriving at your hotel. You will have some time to enjoy relaxing at our hotel pool, fitness center or spa.  In the late afternoon, you will be taken for a walking tour through narrow lanes of this old town. Reach the Ghats in  the evening to see the Ganga Aarti Ceremony – truly a lifetime experience. The Ganga Aarti is a spectacular illuminated sight where hundreds of people throng to the ghats to participate in this ceremony. Offerings of lamps and flowers are made to the river immediately following this ceremony and it is a moving sight to watch hundreds of miniature lamps float along the river.  After, enjoy a group dinner together at a local favorite, sampling kabobs. Day 7 – Saturday, December 22 –  Varanasi

Very early in the morning we will take you for a boat ride along the Ghats on the Holy River Ganges. At sunrise, the Hindu Faithfull’s flock to the river to cleanse themselves of their sins. It is said that ‘To die in Varanasi is to end the Hindu cycle of re-birth’ thereby making it a popular place to end one’s life. After sunrise you will visit some of the temples in the surrounding area. Come back to the hotel for breakfast and a rest.  Later, proceed for a tour to Varanasi City.  Visit, Bharat Kala Bhavan, within the sprawling grounds of Benaras Hindu University and housing an outstanding collection of sculpture, paintings and textiles.  This evening, you will end your tour and say good-bye to India with a wonderful barbeque dinner buffet at our hotel. Day 8 – Sunday, December 23 –  Varanasi – Delhi – Home

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel. Later, you’ll discover Sarnath – a major Buddhist center in the world. After achieving enlightenment at Bodhgaya, Buddha, the ‘Awakened One’, delivered his first sermon here. After, you’ll head to the airport for your afternoon flight to Delhi to catch your late night flight home. (B)

*Roommate matching is not available for the Varanasi extension. If you are traveling with someone, double occupancy is available, otherwise, single occupancy is required.

Cancellation Policy for Tour Packages: From the time of deposit until July 5, 2018, there is a $100 penalty for cancellation. From July 6 – October 1, 2018, the cancellation penalty is the amount of the deposit for the tour and extension package. From October 2 – November 14, 2018, the cancellation penalty is 50% of the total for the tour and extension package. Cancellations made on November 15, 2018 or after and “no-shows” will receive no refund.  There is no refund in the event of interruption or cancellation after the start of the tour.

Travel Protection: Amazing Journeys recommends you purchase Travel Protection. Information will be sent with your trip confirmation.

Proof of Citizenship: All passengers must present a valid passport (valid for six months beyond the last date of travel) for this trip. Visas are necessary for entry to India and more details will be sent to confirmed passengers approximately three months prior to trip departure. Please note that visa requirements may change at any time.

Currency Fluctuations: In case of currency fluctuations greater than 3% on our pre-cruise package, we reserve the right to adjust our prices accordingly in order to operate the tour.

Flights: International airfare is not included in the tour rate. Airfare should not be purchased until you receive your confirmation letter with specific flight parameters.

Transfers: Airport transfers are included.
